Energy Commons, groups of citizens who together produce renewable energy, are a key contributor to the energy transition. For two years, the EU-funded project 'Private Law and the Energy Commons', hosted by the University of Turin, has explored 'Energy Communities' and other Energy Commons from a private-law perspective. The project shows that private law faces similar challenges as other disciplines, ranging from citizen participation and inclusivity to suitable governance structures and project finance.

Against this background, on 27 and 28 March 2024, the University of Turin will bring together 26 experts from eight different countries and scientific backgrounds, from the academy and from practice. Concluding the project 'Private Law and the Energy Commons', this conference sets out to fuel a cross-disciplinary debate about Energy Commons, uncover new research challenges, and to facilitate new collaborative research projects.
